Who we are
At 33, I've been part of communities where I felt I truly belonged — from Lion Dancing to Parkour to Mahjong to D&D group. That feeling where I know people will show up for each made me feel like I was part of a community, this wasn’t just a hobby.
But with life circumstances changing and my friends scattered — San Ramon, San Francisco, Texas — connecting is much harder. I wanted my “third home” closer to the East Bay.
And I wanted it to be volleyball.
I remember when I tried finding volleyball communities in my early 20’s, but it was difficult to find my people. Open gyms felt too competitive and too serious. And there was only volleyball camps for the youth.
Now, instead of just seeking for a volleyball community, I decided to create one.
The odd thing is that as EBVC started growing, something shifted in me. What began as "how do I create my community" became "how do I take care of my people"?
We're building something different here: a place where showing up matters more than skill level, where we balance teams for fun and growth instead of ego, and where missing a signup doesn't mean missing community.
Here's what EBVC is becoming:
Teams balanced by skill level, not just to win
Space for everyone — even if you can't land a playing spot, we're here to connect
A community that celebrates growth over perfection
Your ideas, your feedback, your energy shapes what we become. This is just the beginning.
Let’s build this together.
